Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has reiterated the commitment of the Akufo-Addo-led government to the pledges made to Ghanaians in the run-up to the December 2016 general elections which brought the New Patriotic Party to power.
He said their commitment, backed by prayers from the people of Ghana, would push them to realize all the campaign promises, which would ensure Ghana earns its rightful place in the world map.
“We will remain faithful to our pledge to the good people of Ghana, and ask for your constant prayer and support as we continue on the quest to move Ghana to her rightful place in the comity of nations,” he said.
In a Facebook post Thursday to commemorate the first anniversary of the December 7, 2016 general elections, Dr. Bawumia thanked the electorates for bracing all odds to queue to cast their vote in the election which was a keen contest between Nana Akufo-Addo of the New Patriotic Party and the National Democratic Congress’ John Mahama.
The then candidate Akufo-Addo secured 53.85 per cent of the total valid votes cast to win power from John Mahama who was seeking a second mandate. He secured 44.4 per cent.
“A year ago today, we lined up in our millions, unmindful of the sun and rain, and took the decision to effect a change in our national fortunes.
“My boss Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the NPP and I will be forever grateful for the opportunity to serve mother Ghana and implement destiny-changing policies and programmes,” he assured Ghanaians.
Since taking office on January 7, 2017, President Akufo-Addo and his government have initiated a number of interventions which they say would create job opportunities for Ghanaians, stabilize and boom the economy and make the country the preferred business destination.
