Akufo-Addo and his cabinet members are cowards - Lawyer Maurice Ampaw

Private legal practitioner, Dr Maurice Ampaw has taken a swipe at government describing members of cabinet in the administration of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as cowards who acted under political pressure in scrapping the controversial mandatory towing levy

The Akufo-Addo government has announced it will no longer implement a plan to charge motorists a compulsory levy for towing services.

“Public resistance against the levy was enough to dissuade the government”, Minister of Roads and Transport, Hon. Kwaku Ofori Agyemang in a letter issued Sunday stated.

Speaking on the latest development, Lawyer Maurice Ampaw, bemoaned sudden U-turn of the government in scrapping the policy which was scheduled to take off next month September.

“President Akufo-Addo is coward. He just has to scrap this policy because I know there is too much pressure from his party people”, he alleged

“When the policy came to light, there were a whole lot of baseless controversies from his party members without having any understanding and knowledge of it”, he intimated.

“They made every noise and threatened to quit NPP because of ignorance, envy and jealousy”, the policy advocator fumed in an exclusive interview with reporter Kwabena Danso-Dapaah.

“Unnecessary politicization, envy, and jealousy on the part of some members of the New Patriotic Party NPP such as Abronye DC and Franklin Cudjoe have caused the President to redraw this important policy”, he claims.

According to him, after a careful reflection and taking the time to study the contract agreement, it is important everyone supports the law and therefore strange of the cabinet’s decision.

“Politicization of the whole issue that the implementer is a member of the opposition National Democratic Congress is low headed to hear from critics”.

The controversial lawyer, therefore, admonished the government not to heed to the calls of the NPP members but rather consider curbing carnages on roads.
