President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has reiterated his commitment to completing the Suame interchange project, which aims to reduce congestion and improve infrastructure in Kumasi.
In a recent address, President Akufo-Addo announced that contractors working on the first phase of the Suame interchange project are on schedule to finish by the end of 2024.
He also mentioned that work has begun on the main interchange project, addressing long-standing complaints from motorists about traffic issues in the area.
"The Akufo-Addo government is dedicated to expanding roads in densely populated areas along major routes," Citinewsroom.com quoted him.
He went on to say, "The overpass on the Offinso road, Anomangye-Magazine road, Abusuakurowa, and approximately 15 kilometers of the road around the Suame roundabout are about 40% complete. It is expected that these overpasses will be finished by the end of the year."
President Akufo-Addo highlighted progress on key aspects of the Suame interchange project, such as the overpasses along the Offinso road, Anomangye-Magazine Road, and Abusuakurowa, which are nearing 40% completion. He assured stakeholders that these essential structures will be completed by the end of the year.
Additionally, the President inaugurated a 20-kilometer dualization project for the Anhwiankwanta-Ahenema Kokoben road in the Ashanti Region.
He emphasized the significance of the initiative as part of broader efforts to improve regional road networks, reduce travel times, lower vehicle operating costs, and enhance overall safety.
President Akufo-Addo instructed contractors to prioritize safety measures to minimize disruptions and ensure smooth traffic flow during the construction phases.
