Akufo-Addo can’t help Woyome – Lawyer

A Kumasi Private Legal practitioner, Lawyer Kwame Adom Appiah has described as impossible, calls by embattled businessman Alfred Agbesi Woyome for government to protect his human rights, hours after some military men reportedly besieged his Trassaco residence over the ¢51.2 million wrongfully paid to him.

Mr. Woyome wants government to protect his human rights against those who want to abuse him because his case is still pending at the African Court.

But speaking in an interview with Otec FM, Lawyer Kwame Adom Appiah says it is impossible for President Akufo Addo to intervene since the orders came from an arm of government, the Judiciary.

”President Akufo-Addo is a champion in the rule of law and rule of law means, the law must work, so he being the head of one of the 3 arms of government cannot annul a decision by the Judiciary to save woyome,” he stated.

Lawyer Adom Appiah explained that it behoves the state which is the Judgement creditor to use all legal processes available to retrieve the cash from the judgement creditor, Mr Woyome since the court has finished playing it’s part in the matter.

”I am aware there was no set time for Mr Woyome to pay the debt so the state would have to initiate post judgement processes to help retrieve the cash and the interest due from the embattled businessman,” he added.

Meanwhile, Mr Woyome claims he has done nothing to disobey the orders given by the country’s apex court to warrant the maltreatment being meted out to him.

“If the Constitution still gives me rights to seek justice until all those avenues have been exhausted, nobody should disrespect my human rights,” he stressed.
