President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has been accused by the former Member of Parliament for Nantong constituency, Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed of sponsoring and aiding the ‘terror groups’ that are engaged in some of this violence during elections.

According to him, the President of the Republic cannot deny this allegation as he did not hide it as an opposition leader and now as President.

“Some have described as an attempt by this government to wangle a trick on the people of this country to hide the absolute complicity of the government and its appointees in this mess. After all, the terror groups that are engaged in some of these were terror groups that were formed by Mr. Nana Addo; he didn’t hide it as an opposition leader and he financed and aided them in opposition, and in government he is still financing and aiding them,” he alleged.

Speaking on Radio Gold’s ‘Alhaji and Alhaji’ programme, Murtala Mohammed described as “heavily and damaging mess” the safety of the country, as in the past few weeks there have been ugly scenes regarding the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election and other security matters in the country.

He, however, charged that the country has a moral duty and a responsibility to ensure this “hugely and messy” situation is clean up, reiterating that the clean-up exercise should largely be done by President Akufo-Addo himself.

“So it has been hugely, a messy situation that I have found also. We have a moral duty and a responsibility to see if we can clean the mess, and the person who indeed has the most responsibility in this is H.E the President,” he charged.
