General Secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Boadu has commended President Akufo-Addo for "showing leadership” in the face of the outbreak of the coronavirus.

Mr. Boadu believes the measures put in place in dealing with the outbreak has helped in preventing an escalation of the outbreak compared to other countries especially the United Kingdom.

He opined should the UK had taken steps and done what Ghana did, they would have prevented the situation they are in today.

‘So far, the president has shown leadership…I believe if the UK had taken steps like Ghana, they would not have gotten to where they are now. The situation in the UK is very precarious and worrying.”

He admonished Ghanaians to support and compliment the efforts of the president.

"I pray Ghanaians will compliment the efforts of the government on the restriction of movements so we don’t get to the point of other countries. We must respect the protocols. It is for our own good,” he added.

The number of confirmed Coronavirus cases in Ghana now stands at 641, according to the latest update by the Ghana Health Service on Wednesday, April 15, 2020.
