Women Organiser for the National Democratic Congress (NDC); Dr. Hanna Bissiw is asking President Akufo-Addo, whom she says has evidently proven himself as ‘a successful failure’ to step up his game and redeem his image.

Addressing the media at the ‘Kum Yen Preko’ Demonstration Tuesday, July 9, Dr Bissiw was unenthused about ‘the many failed promises’ under the ruling government.

For a government who took over from one which was bent on development; building roads, schools infrastructure etc. she said, it is only right that they do due diligence by continuing the good works and by that fulfil all their stated promises to Ghanaians.

“President Akufo-Addo, we didn’t vote for a tourist. The roads, the schools, the infrastructure that John Dramani Mahama and his administration were doing, we are asking him to restore it. Too many failed promises. The president is a successful failure so we are asking him, that the honey promises that they made, they should fulfil the promises. They should fulfil the promises.”

Violation of press freedom through various assaults on media persons, according to her, is a clear showcase of intolerance on the part of the Akufo-Addo administration. She was emphatic about the need for government to put in the appropriate measures to restore sanity in the country.

“He should restore our peace and security. they should stop insulting our intelligence, they should stop killing us; and we need press freedom, we want our press to be free, we want the press to inform us, stop intimidating them, stop killing journalists, stop imprisoning journalists, stop causing journalists to run into exile, we want our freedom and we will defend boldly, our freedom and our rights and President, we are resisting the oppressors rule.”

The 'Kum Yen Preko' demo was held to show displeasure about the recent hardship and insecurity in the country.

The demonstration organized by group Members of the Coalition for Social Justice has many others from all walks of life participating to register their displeasure over what they term as severe hardship and insecurity in the country.

Various groups who joined the demonstration include the Minority caucus in Parliament, the Greater Accra Market Women Association, the Concerned Drivers Union, True Drivers Union, Free Media Vanguard, the Coalition for National Sovereignty, disgruntled MenzGold customers and unpaid customers of Gold Coast Fund Management among others.
