The National Communication Officer of the largest opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi, has accused the Akufo-Addo administration of wasting borrowed funds on consumption while his predecessor invested in infrastructure.
He argued that former President John Mahama used borrowed funds to constructed schools, hospitals, clinics, roads etc while Akufo Addo is using borrowed funds on “chop chop.”
Speaking on Good Evening Ghana on Metro TV to respond to comments made by Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia during the results fair in Kumasi Sammy Gyamfi said “NPP and Akufo-Addo are spending borrowed funds on consumption. President Akufo-Addo and his useless globetrotting activities in 9 months in 2019 this wasteful Prez spends Ghc63 million on foreign travels.”
He said for a country like Ghana it wasn’t prudent for government to spend on travels and fun fairs when majority of the people are wallowing in poverty, hewers of wood and drawers of water, no bed in hospitals etc.
He also alleged the Vice President Dr. Mahmoud Bawumia spent GHc1.9 million , which is 19billion old cedis of borrowed money on party refreshments.
Sammy Gyamfi said it’s not tru the debt position today is better than it was under John Mahama because the NPP have added almost Ghc110, billion the same Late President John Evans Atta Mills and John Dramani Mahama to the public debt in 8 years.
According to him, Akufo Addo and his government has Bro owed more but nothing to show for it. They spent the people’s money on tea party and travels .
