Friday, June 04:-The Member of Parliament for New Juabeng North, Mr. Hackman Owusu Agyemang has declared that “Nana Akufo-Addo is the best among all five candidates contesting the flag bearer position of the New Patriotic Party.”
“I am the only surviving founding father of the party. I have been through the mill and seen it all and I know what is good for the party at what time. It is my desire to see our great party come back to power in 2012 and all who share in that desire should vote massively for Nana Akufo-Addo to lead the party to victory in 2012.”
He was speaking at the Hackman Social Centre, Oyoko, where Nana Akufo-Addo and his Victory 2012 Campaign Team met with delegates of the New Juabeng North constituency as part of their tour of the Eastern region.
The former Works and Housing Minister noted that Nana Akufo-Addo is the most popular politician in Ghana today and it will therefore be suicidal for the NPP not to elect him as flag bearer for the 2012 general elections.
He spoke extensively about Nana Akufo-Addo’s diligence and commitment to the cause of the NPP over the years and charged delegates to vote for the candidate who has served the party and who thinks about the party.
He buttressed his point with the role Nana Akufo-Addo played in the expanded Electoral College of the party to ensure that the power of the party is now at the grassroots. He mentioned also that Nana Akufo-Addo was outstanding in executing his duties both as Attorney General and subsequently as Foreign Minister.
“I am confident that when Nana Akufo-Addo is elected as president of our dear nation, he will restore hope in the Ghanaian people and bring back sound economic growth and infrastructural development to our country.”
He remarked that today it has become obvious that the nation requires an experienced and competent leader to help the country move forward and amongst all five aspirants of the NPP, Nana Akufo-Addo is the one who stands tall.
He spoke also about the unity and oneness of the NPP adding that members should not allow an internal party contest to break the front of the party. He noted that the main battle lies ahead in 2012 against the NDC and therefore bemoaned delegates not to spend too much energy and time on a matter that is obvious and foregone.
“Even if you ask a child, he will tell you that Nana will win the August 7 nomination of the party” he added.
