Akufo-Addo isn’t sure Bawumia as president will honour him - Mustapha Gbande

Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Mustapha Gbande claims that President Akufo-Addo made people erect his statue because he does not trust Dr Bawumia enough to honour him when he leaves office.

During an interview with Onua FM, the Deputy NDC scribe disclosed that the statue commissioned by the president was baseless.

“He is not even sure that even if Bawumia becomes president, he will honor him. So he did this before he will leave office”, Mustapha Gbande claimed.

According to him, the NDC knows everything that goes on in the Jubilee House because the workers there end up leaking information they are not supposed to, describing the NPP government as lazy, and adding that the NPP did nothing during their 8 years in power.

He stated that the only legacy the NPP has is “stealing”.

A few days after the statue of Nana Addo was erected, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, criticised the President over his decision to commission a statue of himself near the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital in Sekondi-Takoradi.

Mahama questioned the purpose of erecting the statue, suggesting it reflects self-praise rather than a genuine acknowledgement of accomplishments.

“He convinced all universities to confer on him a doctorate when he was already in power. How? I don’t know where he’s taking those doctorates. You have to end your tenure for the universities to rather confer the awards on you depending on your accomplishments,” Mr. Mahama wondered.
