Former Presidential staffer Stan Dogbe has noted that it is refreshing that President Akufo-Addo is listened and is implementing economic mitigation measures suggested by former President Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) aimed at reducing the suffering of Ghanaians caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The president last Sunday announced some measures aimed at cushioning Ghanaians economically in the face of COVID-19 such as free water for the next three months as well as the support of small and medium scale businesses.

This, Mr Dogbe, has argued means the President is listening to suggestions by former President Mahama, the NDC and others for measures to lessen the economic burden of Ghanaians in this time of the pandemic.

“Thank God President Akufo-Addo is finally listening to economic mitigation suggestions made by John Dramani Mahama, the NDC COVID-19 Team and others to cushion Ghanaians in this time of difficulty.

With businesses closed and household incomes depleting fast, such measures as indicated by John Mahama- including free electricity, reduction in fuel prices, reduction in data costs, shifting of the period for the filing of taxes and SSNIT returns and support to SMEs- will be critical towards managing the challenges many are facing during these times. Together we can #stopthespread and win the fight against Covid-19,” he wrote on social media.

Before the President’s announcement, former President Mahama, the NDC COVID-19 Technical Team and many other Ghanaians had called for steps to cushion Ghanaians economically as the pandemic rages on.
