Prophet Badu Kobi, Founder and Leader of the Glorious Wave International church has restated that the 2016 election is for the presidential candidate of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to win, but it will elude him if he fails to purge himself.

Speaking in an interview with Kwabena Agyapong, host of Rainbow Radio's new political show Eboboba, the prophet said the opposition NPP is marked to win.

''The election is for Nana Addo but for him to win is the problem. I have said this before, and I will say it again. Ghanaians don't understand me, but it is the truth. Nana Addo needs to purge himself before he can win the elections.''

Prophet Badu Kobi revealed that the presidential candidate might lose the opportunity like he lost to the late President John Evans Atta Mills.

He said in 2008, Nana Addo was meant to win the elections, but the race eluded him because he failed to meet certain conditions.

"Nana Addo failed to look out for the conditions which could have made him win the elections in 2008...If a prophet tells you to purge yourself, then it means there are problems surrounding you. The man needs to purge himself, and if I'm to tell him some of the problems with him, he would be surprised."

President Mills, he added, won the elections because of his humility, and that is something the opposition leader lacks, he stressed.

One other problem he said was affecting the chances of the NPP is the role the UP tradition played in the overthrow of the late Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.

According to the prophet, the NPP "is struggling to come to power because of the role they played in the overthrow of Kwame Nkrumah...Even if the NPP wins power, they are not able to stay in office for long, and that is something they need to work on before they can have the opportunity to enjoy political stability and power."

He chided the NPP for their stubbornness and failure to take measures in reversing the challenges preventing them from 'easily' winning political office.

Meanwhile, responding to the comments by Prophet Badu Kobi, lawyer Mike Ocquaye rubbished claims that the UP tradition played a key role in the overthrow of the late Kwame Nkrumah.

According to him, investigations were conducted and the UP tradition was exonerated over allegations that they played a role in the coup.

"The UP tradition has nothing to do with the bombing of Kwame Nkrumah...It is also untrue that the NPP struggles before winning an election. Did President Mills win the election easily? I know the political history of this country, and so I will not allow someone to distort the facts."
