Akufo-Addo presser achieved aim – Okudzeto

President Akufo-Addo President Akufo-Addo

The Akufo-Addo government realised its objective in the media interaction the president had on Tuesday, 18 July, Perry Okudzeto, Deputy Minister of Information, has said.

The President met journalists at the Flagstaff House to take questions, six months after taking office. Also present at the event were the Vice President, Ministers of State and other leading figures in government.

Speaking on Accra100.5FM’s Ghana Yensom a day after the exercise, Mr Okudzeto said government was satisfied with the event.

“The purpose put out for yesterday’s meeting, I believe government achieved it after the encounter,” he told show host Chief Jerry Forson.

“Our reason for the media encounter was to have a discussion about Ghana, the things affecting Ghana’s development and the measures put in place, the president’s vision and the challenges facing the country.”

He explained that the meeting was relevant as the media, being the link between government and the governed, needed to get authorities to address key issues affecting citizens, and to afford government the opportunity to “gauge” the situation on the ground and refine its plans as it works to bring about development and progress.

“So, I believe that yesterday, the things that Ghanaians had put before you [journalists], the journalists who made it to the encounter conveyed them and the president responded. So at the end of the day, I can say that the motive for the encounter was achieved by government,” he affirmed.
