Former Ghana’s High Commissioner to UK & Republic of Ireland, Ambassador Victor Emmanuel Smith has lashed out at the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) led by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for promising Heaven to Ghanaians during the 2016 electioneering campaign but is now delivering Hell.

According to him, Ghanaians have been going through severe hardships under the Akufo-Addo’s administration which promised to alleviate poverty.

He said the ruling NPP deceived the ordinary voters just to be in power and amass wealth at the detriment of the people who lined up in queues to vote for them.

The former Ambassador lambasted the governing NPP government of performing abysmally contrary to the promises they made to Ghanaians.

In his estimation, good leadership is not about making empty promises to people adding that Ghanaians deserve to know the truth about the strength of the government.

In an interview with Radio 1 Ghana monitored by MyNewsGh.com, he fumed saying , ‘The government is performing abysmally, because they promised too much, you promised Heaven and you can’t deliver, do you get the point? one of the things good leadership should do is not to promise people Heaven when you know you don’t have what it takes to deliver Heaven to them. You going to try but let them appreciate that Rome was not built in a day. But you didn’t tell them’.

He said Ghanaians deserve better infrastructure and not bad roads which commuters cannot ply to do their businesses.

Mr Victor Smith believes the erstwhile Mahama administration would have remained in power if NPP didn’t lie to Ghanaians because he was embarking on massive infrastructural developments.
