Akufo-Addo’s China visit will yield positive benefits for Ghana – Eugene Arhin

Director of Communications at the Presidency, Eugene Arhin, has described the visit of President Akufo-Addo to the People’s Republic of China as a very successful trip, the evidence of which would soon be visible for all Ghanaians to see and partake thereof.

President Akufo-Addo returned home on the 8th of September, 2018, after a two-nation tour of China and Rwanda over the last nine (9) days.

In a short briefing upon arrival at the Jubilee Lounge of the Kotoka International Airport, Mr. Arhin said, “The benefits of the President’s visit that have accrued to the country have been enormous”.

He added that he believes it will go a long way to enhance the development of Ghana and also towards the improvement of the lives of the Ghanaian people.

The President left Ghana on the 30th of August to China where, at the invitation of the President of the People’s Republic of China, Xi Jinping, he paid a state visit and also participated in the China- Africa Forum. While in China, the President met with the Ghanaian community in that country and also visited some leading companies in China such as Alibaba, Huawei and Inspur Group Co. Ltd.

Government as part of the trip signed a $2 billion dollars deal with Sino Hydro, which will result in the construction of roads, bridges and interchanges all over the country. Ghana and China also signed eight (8) additional Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) during the visit.

Sinotruk International, China’s first heavy-duty truck manufacturer, also signed an agreement with the Government of Ghana to establish an assembly plant in Ghana, to serve both Ghanaian and West African markets.

On the 6th of September, the President arrived in Kigali, Rwanda, to participate in the African Green Revolution Forum (AGRF). President Akufo Addo received the African Leadership University award and participated in a high-level discussion of Heads of State on the theme of the forum, ‘Lead, Measure, Grow.’

President Akufo Addo was met on arrival by the Vice President, Mahamudu Bawumia; Chief of Staff, Madam Akosua Frema Osei Opare; Minister for the Interior, Ambrose Dery; Minister for Energy, Peter Amewu; the Service Chiefs of the Republic and other state functionaries.
