Akufo-Addo’s popularity keeps growing like a mountain – Karbo

Former National Youth Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Anthony Abayifa Karbo says Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo remains the only presidential candidate in the country that can save Ghanaians from the “suffering” under the incumbent National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Mr Karbo said with a “prophetic” politician like Dr Mahamudu Bawumia as his running mate, Ghanaians should be rest assured of comfort from 2016 if Nana Addo is elected president.

He was speaking on TV3’s News @ 10 on Monday, September 1 as regards the result of the Special Electoral College of the NPP.

After the College elections on Sunday, August 31, calls have been rife that the two-time presidential candidate be handed a third leadership mandate within the party by a voluntary stand-down of the four candidates, who qualified for the October 18 conference.

Mr Karbo, who contested the Lawra Constituency parliamentary seat in 2012, said: “Akufo-Addo’s popularity keeps growing like a mountain."

He said his confidence in Nana Addo stems from that fact that: “I believe the good people of Ghana have listened to Akufo-Addo.”

He argued further that it will be disastrous for the NPP to change its presidential candidate as no opposition candidate has won an election in Ghana at a first attempt.

If handed the mandate, Nana Addo will be contesting the election for the third time. He lost the 2008 and 2012 elections to late Professor John Evans Atta Mills and John Dramani Mahama respectively.
