Minister for Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah believes the resolution of the impasse between the Abudu and Andani families was made possible by the fact that President Akufo-Addo impressed on both families he is “Abudani”; who belongs to both sides.

Speaking on Okay FM’s "Ade Akye Abia" Morning Show, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah averred that it took the confidence and the trust the two parties reposed in President Akufo-Addo to understand the need to come to a compromise to end the conflict.

“If you want to settle dispute between two families, the first thing to do is that the parties must have confidence and trust in you that you are not biased...when you talk to them, what they say is that when President Akufo-Addo met the two families, he told them he is neither Abudu nor Andani be he his Abudani...he told them he does not support any faction in the chieftaincy dispute and so they had confidence in him to solve the dispute and ensured that the two families compromised in the resolution,” he asserted.

He reiterated that even though nobody dictated to the Eminent Chiefs on how to do their work, the position of the President, urging the two parties to compromise for progress to prevail and with unbiased “Abudani” comment helped to finally end the decade-old impasse.

“...these two things, the two parties having confidence in the President due to his unbiased statement and the truth that compromise is the way out, helped in cementing the peace at Dagbon after 16 years of chieftaincy dispute”, he claimed.

The Information Minister showered praises on the Committee of the three Eminent Chiefs, Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Nayiri-Mahamid Sheriga and the Yagbonwura Tuntumba Boresa I for their roles played in seeing to it that the Dagbon conflict was successfully resolved.
