Akufo-Addo seeks Western Region votes

The 2012 Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo, who is seeking to lead the party in the 2016 elections, hit the Western Region yesterday with his campaign.

Nana Addo was in the region to meet the delegates, as well as constituency and regional executives of the party, to lay before them his vision and objectives for the party and to convince the delegates to vote for him.

The meeting, which was attended by about 416 NPP executive members from 15 constituencies in the region, was held in Tarkwa, in the Tarkwa-Nsuaem constituency.

Nana Addo was received by a large number of the party’s sympathisers, who repeatedly chanted “Our Saviour, Nana!”

Also present at the meeting were members of the Council of Elders of the party in the region, some National Council leaders, all current and former NPP regional executives and five NPP Members of Parliament in the region.

Nana Addo and his entourage paid a courtesy call on the Omanhene of Wassa Fiase Traditional Area, Osagyefo Dr. Kwamena Enimil VI, to inform him of his presence in Tarkwa and briefed the chief on his mission in the area.

After that the 2012 flagbearer of the NPP visited Pure Fm, a local radio station in Tarkwa, for a live broadcast after which he held a meeting with the party’s regional and constituency executives.

During the live broadcast, Nana Addo told the people that he was bent on implementing his free education policy when voted as the next President of Ghana.

He indicated that he was not perturbed by the fact that President John Mahama had indicated that his government would soon implement that policy—a policy they criticised and dismissed as not feasible during the 2012 election campaign.

Nana Addo told the people that the President Mahama led NDC government’s promise to provide free education was a grand scheme to deceive the good people of Ghana after virtually collapsing the economy.

Akufo-Addo believed that the major issues confronting the people of Ghana today were around the increasing sufferings visited on the people through bad economic policies by the government.

“The other is the breakdown of social services, and the loss of confidence in the President and his administration to offer credible solutions,” Nana Addo stated.

Nana Akufo-Addo brought activities at the Tarkwa lorry park to a halt when he visited there, as part of his campaign, to interact with the people.

Nana Addo was mobbed by residents, traders and commercial drivers who abandoned everything to catch a glimpse of the man they described as the next President of Ghana.

Nana Addo appealed to them to vote massively for the NPP in 2016 to halt the current rising cost of living, cost of production, unemployment and the countless public agitations caused by public anger and disillusionment with the government.
