President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo still seems to be upset with his predecessor, John Dramani Mahama, for calling him a 'clearing agent,' who clears all his appointees accused of corruption.

Akufo-Addo has criticized former President Mahama multiple times, including during his speech at the 2023 Ghana Bar Association Conference in Cape Coast.

He mocked Mahama as a "perennial presidential candidate" for his 'clearing agent' comment.

During the commissioning of The Law House on Monday, June 10, 2024, Akufo-Addo once again targeted Mahama for the 'clearing agent' label, calling him a "perennial presidential candidate."

He highlighted Mahama's tendency to publicly condemn individuals accused of corruption without following due process.

In his speech, Akufo-Addo stated, "Before I conclude, Madam Chief Justice, ladies and gentlemen, I’m sure you are all aware of the statement by the former President and perennial NDC presidential candidate, John Dramani Mahama, stigmatizing me as a clearing agent.

He continued, "Because for him, a mere allegation without proof is enough to merit the condemnation of an accused public officer, especially one from my administration."

Akufo-Addo emphasized, "For my part, let me state it again for the record, I will not set aside due process and the principles of natural justice in the fight against corruption, no matter how much criticism this stance brings me."
