President Akufo-Addo has criticized former President John Mahama for failing to construct adequate roads in the country, especially in the Northern Region.

According to President Akufo-Addo, “Former President Mahama said the infrastructure projects his government built were unprecedented but everywhere I go, during my tour, all what the chiefs and opinion leaders ask for are roads.”

“Whenever I get road request, it reminds me of the statement of former President John Mahama that he and his government are responsible for unprecedented infrastructure development in our country.”

He said, “I made a mistake of opening my mouth on that matter and telling Mahama that everywhere I go, I don’t see any unprecedented infrastructural development, and he said the reason is that I was sleeping at the back of my car so I couldn’t see the good roads.”

President Akufo-ddo said “everywhere I go, either small or big town; roads are the issue of the people, so you have to decide for yourselves whether he was telling the truth or I was telling the truth and I think the answer is there for you all to see.”

He assured chiefs and opinion leaders in the Northern Region that he would convey their request for roads to the Sector Minister.

President Akufo-Addo made this known at Buipe during his three-day tour of the Northern Region.

Meanwhile, government has announced plans to construct roads in Walewale, Nalerigu, Bunkpurugu, Nasia, Saganarigu, Tolon, Buipe and Damongo.
