Aside his verbal communication with Ghanaians on ways to curb the Novel Coronavirus, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo appears to have carved quite a remarkable way of subtly engaging the emotions of Ghanaians through his outfits.
Beautifully donned in a coffee brown African print with large patches of white flowers, President Akufo-Addo, in his 10th address to the nation announced the roadmap for bringing the economy back to life.
Amongst other things, the president declared the ban on religious activities lifted and also announced plans to lift other restrictions in phases.
But what many people may have missed out on, was how the designs in his outfit subtly propagated his message without necessarily employing any words at all.
The unique name of the president’s outfit has been given in the local Asante Twi dialect as, "Nea mmoa adi no, ma nni nko, na nea aka akyere no na ye bo hoban.” To wit, “What is lost is lost, the rest must be safeguarded, protected and preserved.”
According to an African print decipherer on Twitter, the brown colour known in Asante Twi as ‘dodoe?’ symbolizes healing, security and stability.
The president indeed, in his address sought to stabilize the country and spread hope of healing after several weeks of imposed restrictions.
Though the borders remain closed, the president hinted of plans to bring back stranded Ghanaians abroad back home. The future of final years students in educational institutions have also been defined and finally some religious activities can also take place.
