Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, New Patriotic Party (NPP) Presidential Candidate in the 2012 elections has asked the rank and file of the party not to lose sight of the importance of a 2016 victory.
Akufo-Addo believes "the destiny of our dear country and how to enhance the lives of ordinary Ghanaians" must be motivations for the party to stay united to win power in the next general elections.
NPP 2012 Presidential Candidate said these in a congratulatory message to winners of the recently held polling station and constituency level internal elections.
"I congratulate all members of the party who participated in the various elections held so far. For those who lost, I wish you better luck next time and, more importantly, I urge you to stay fully engaged in our efforts to reorganise the party for the general elections of 2016," Akufo-Addo said.
Describing the NPP polling station and constituency elections as "generally peaceful," he urged winners to "bring on board every member and supporter of the party in our efforts towards a strong and effective campaign for a clear and resounding victory in 2016."
He said the NPP must reinforce its front to offer a more attractive and competent alternative to Ghanaians.
"Let us stay united even as we compete amongst ourselves. We cannot compromise on the unity of the party if we are not to compromise on the victory that we seek. We must, therefore, see these internal contests as but a necessary reorganisation process that we must first go through.
"Let us keep it clean and convivial so that we can all get back together, to think together, work together and secure victory together in 2016", Akufo-Addo admonished party supporters.
He therefore urged participants in the elections to seek amicable resolution of issues that may arise from the process through existing party structures.
