Akufo-Addo under attack for commiserating with Boris Johnson instead of Ashaiman victim

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is at the receiving end of several backlashes on twitter for ‘hurriedly’ extending well wishes to UK Prime Minister, Boris Johnson after failing to speak on the shooting incident in Ashaiman.

Twitter users have labeled the president as heartless for ignoring the shooting of one Eric Ofotsu by a soldier in Ashaiman on Sunday.

President Akufo-Addo upon hearing that the UK Prime Minister was moved to intensive care in hospital after his coronavirus symptoms worsened took to twitter to wish him well.

“Wishing British Prime Minister, @BorisJohnson a speedy recovery and God’s blessings. Our thoughts and prayers are with him and the British people at this critical time,” the president wrote.

But the tweet which did not sit well with some Ghanaians attracted severe backlash from them, with some insulting the president for intruding in issues that shouldn’t be of concern.

“It seems our President care's so much about foreigners than his own citizens who voted for him in the 2016 general elections. A citizen was shot dead by a military man in Ashaiman yesterday and till now our listening President has not heard about it to console the family's,” a Twitter user wrote.

Another tweep accused him of losing track of issues that happen in his own country because he has refused to watch our local channels.

“Continue watching international channels such as @BBCWorld @AJEnglish to know what happens there, yet you don't watch @utvghana @tv3_ghana @GHOneTV @CitiTVGH to know what happens in Ghana! No wonder you are donating your future salary while we need that cash now,” the tweet read.
