Former Central Regional Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Bernard Allotey Jacob is advising delegates of the party against retaining the current General Secretary of the party, Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketia, lest the NDC lose the 2020 polls to the NPP, MyNewsGH.com has filed.

While it is foregone conclusion that Mr Mahama will be crowned flagbearer of the NDC come December, Allotey Jacobs maintains that a win for the Chief Scribe at Saturday’s conference to be held at the Trade Fair will mean a defeat for the party in 2020 accusing him of disrespecting leaders of the party.

“If delegates vote for Asiedu Nketia the NDC will lose in 2020”, he stated categorically in a panel discussion on an Accra-based radio station.

According to him, retaining Asiedu Nketia will be one of the saddest things delegates should do unless they are readying themselves to stay in opposition after 2020 indicating he is just not cut for the job.

Mr Allotey Jacob who at the beginning of the years accused his General Secretary of making his tenure as Regional Chairman difficult vowed to campaign against him and recently rained curses on him for using the name of former President John Dramani Mahama to canvass for votes.

In his view, Asiedu Nketia attacked Regional Chairmen who declared their unflinching support for the candidature of the former President only to turn round when the grounds are not fertile for him to do same.

“Sycophancy is when ten Regional chairmen endorses John Mahama and you castigate them for doing so and when the race for Gen Secretary is hot you endorses Mahamah Flag bear ship Nyame betua Wo ka”.

He is also on record to have stated his reign as chairman was undermined by current General Secretary of the party, Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketia who should have known better.

“I am quitting political activism and I am not going to seek re-election. Asiedu Nketia undermined my Chairmanship knowing very well the region is a conservative region. Things he was supposed to do, he refused to do them culminating into the defeat of the party”, he revealed.
