Akufo-Addo will deliver with 110 ministers – Ayisi Boateng

President Akufo-Addo President Akufo-Addo

Ghana at the moment is saddled with serious challenges bequeathed by the previous National Democratic Congress (NDC) government hence the number of ministers in the New Patriotic Party-led government will help eradicate those problems, George Ayisi Boateng, a leading member of the NPP in the Ashanti Region, has said.

According to him, the size of Mr Akufo-Addo’s government, which has become a topic for discussion in the Ghanaian media, is an indication that all hands are on deck to fix those challenges affecting the lives of Ghanaians, for which the John Mahama-led government was voted out of office in last year’s elections, paving the way for the NPP to fix those issues.

Mr Akufo-Addo has appointed a record 110 ministers to help him govern the country for the next four years. His critics, mainly from the NDC, have said the size of the government is too huge and will affect the country’s finances.

But speaking in an interview with Chief Jerry Forson, host of Ghana Yensom, on Accra100.5FM on Thursday 16 March, Mr Ayisi Boateng said: “The country is bedevilled with several challenges left behind by the previous government and so let us be patient with President Akufo-Addo and his vice president so they fix these issues for us. The size of the government means all hands on deck to fix these challenges. The president acknowledges the challenges facing the country and so he is tackling every single challenge with his appointment and very soon we will all feel the benefits of his government.

“People are talking of the cost implications of the size of his government, but we have lived in Ghana under a particular government that paid huge sums of money in questionable judgment debts to Alfred Woyome, Isofoton, and several others, and now a different president has come in and is forming his government to deal with all the challenges facing Ghanaians and we are complaining of the size of the government? A year from now we will be singing new songs in praising the president and his ministers for the work they have done, and so let us be patient and see what will happen.”
