The governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has assured that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will not be implicated in any corruption or corruption-related activity.

Yaw Buaben Asamoa, Communications Director of the NPP in an interview monitored by MyNewsGh.com said the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) is feeding on a myth with allegations of corruption in the Nana Addo led administration.

“There is nothing like corruption in government. You have a decisive President who has built a framework for managing corruption and nowhere has he said that allegations of corruption will not be dealt with. Let’s separate the political myth where politicians want to take advantage of the word corruption because it plays a big factor in our political life,” he said in an interview on Bolgatanga based Yem Radio

Mr. Buaben Asamoa reiterated that the best the President could do in the case of allegations of conflict of interest and corruption on the part of the suspended Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Public Procurement Authority (PPA) Mr. Adjenim Boateng Adjei was to refer the matter to appropriate bodies for investigation.

“What more could the President have done but to give him to the right agency to deal with? Is it the case that it has been proven that he is corrupt?” He questioned.

According to him, allegations of corruption has been overly thrown around because it is politically juicy.

The Communications Director stated unequivocally that “Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo has never and ever will be implicated in anything that is corrupt. He is the President who has finalised the legal environment for corruption control including signing the Right to Information Bill which has been in Parliament for Seventeen years.”
