Akuse notorious robbers grabbed

Two suspected armed robbers who have allegedly been terrorizing the residents of Kpong, have been finally grabbed by the police.

They were said to have butchered a watchman and taken away GH¢1,500, iPad and visa belonging to a landlady near Akuse, in the Lower Manya Municipality of the Eastern Region.

Ebenezer Yaw, 24 an NGO social worker and Tanko Charles, 24 unemployed, are currently in police custody assisting in investigations. They reportedly went to the Kpong residential area with two toy guns and butchered a watchman with a sharp machete who prevented them from robbing his boss.

The two gangsters allegedly took pieces of block on the compound to break the wall of the landlady’s room while she was asleep and took away the items.

Ebenezer and Tanko, after the act, went away leaving the watchman in a pool of blood. The landlady reportedly raised an alarm which drew the attention of the neighbours who came to take the watchman to the Atua Government Hospital for treatment.

The landlady went to the Akuse Police Station to report the matter on Sunday, and when she was going to the market the following day, she spotted Ebenezer Yaw, raised an alarm and with the help of the traders, the suspect was arrested and sent to the police.

While in the police custody, Ebenezer mentioned the name of his accomplice and the police went to apprehend Tanko Charles.

Supt. Francis Ackah, Akuse Police Commander, when confirming the incidents to DAILY GUIDE, hinted that a search in the suspects’ rooms revealed the toy guns which they used for the robbery.
