Akwanbokese Festival promotes peace

The first ever Akwanbokese festival for 193 communities in the Ajumako-Enyaa-Esiam District of the Central Region has taken off.

The Akwanbokese festival which started on Sunday November 3rd amidst excitement from drumming and dancing; pouring libation and performing of rituals by fetish priests, to solicit the blessings of the ancestral gods for peaceful and successful festival.

A durbar of the chiefs and people took place at Ampia-Ajumako where participants were privileged to visit the local ancient museum.

The durbar was chaired by Nana Okofo Otsiwa III, Acting President of Enyaa-Abaasa Traditional area who called on the citizens to remain calm and promote peace.

Nana Ogua Ababio III, Chief of Ampia-Ajumako and Kyidomhen of Ajumako Traditional Council said the event has tourism potentials.

The festival continues on Sunday November 10 with thanksgiving service.
