Akwatia Constituency of NPP elects officers

Okumaning (E/R), Oct. 07, GNA - Alhaji Baba Yakubu, a diamond dealer was on Wednesday elected unopposed as Chairman of the Akwatia Constituency of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) at a delegates conference held at Okumaning.

Other executive members elected were, Mr Frank Anim-Bediako, First Vice Chairman, Mr Sampson Okuampa Agyeman, Second Vice Chairman, Mr Jones Agyapong Danso, Secretary, Mr Maxwell Danso, Assistant Secretary, Mr Ali Abubakari, Organiser, Mr Eugene Opoku Akyeampong, Youth Organizer, Miss Kate Gyamfuah, Women's Organiser and Mr Bright Francis Kofi Ntiamoah, Treasurer.

The Eastern Regional Chairman of NPP, Nana Adi Ankama, who swore in the new executives asked them and the polling station executives to forge a united front and ensure they explained Government's policies and programmes to the people to win more members for the party.

He said the 2008 elections would not be an easy task for the NPP and appealed to them to organize effectively to retain the Akwatia seat. Alhaji Yakubu, on behalf of the new executives, pledged that unity and peace would be their watchword to reconcile the members in spite of the divisions and acrimony among the candidates preceding the election. Mr Kiston Kissi, MP for Akwatia and Mr Yaw Yiadom-Boakye, the District Chief Executive, asked members of the party to unite and campaign to win both the Presidential and Parliamentary elections in 2008.
