Member of Parliament (MP) for Suame Constituency, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, has observed that Alan Kwadwo Kyeremanten is engaged in what he described as an exercise in futility.

He disclosed that there is no way his Movement for Change can beat either the National Democratic Congress (NDC) or the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in any election in the country.

The support base of the former Trade and Industry Minister, he observed, is dwindling and should tell him he may be heading for a crash if he fails to rethink his decision.

Speaking on Kumasi-based Abusua FM, the former Majority Leader and Minister of Parliamentary Affairs said, “I knew Alan Kyeremanten was going to contest Bawumia and would lose even if the elections were conducted 10 times. I had the feeling he would become disgruntled, and it may not be good. It was for this reason I was proposing the Bawumia-Alan ticket to avert such acrimony in the party.”

According to him, Alan's breakaway has an impact on the NPP, but he disclosed that it is not as significant as many may think.

“When he started, look at the crowds that followed him. After some time, it started dwindling away. Parties like PNC and CPP have party structures in the constituencies, and they rely on that to contest general elections. What are the results obtained by these parties? The exercise he is engaged in, if I should put it bluntly, is going to be an exercise in futility,” he stated.
