Alan is our Jesus – NPP Chairman

Trade and Industry Minister, Allan Kyerematen, who has declared his intention to contest the New Patriotic Party’s flagbearer position is being hailed as a saviour, according the Independent newspaper.

The paper said Mr. Kyerematen has become the toast of many, especially NPP delegates in the Volta Region, for what they say are his efforts and instrumentality in the rejuvenation of the former Juapong Textiles, which has now been renamed Volta Star Textiles Limited.

The South Dayi Constituency Chairman of the NPP, Nyaho Datti, is one of the many admirers of Mr. Kyerematen and one of the individuals in support of his bid to lead the NPP to the 2008 presidential elections.

Mr. Datti is full of praise and support for Allan Cash, as the minister is also known, because of what he terms his (Kyerematen's) efforts at rejuvenating "dead factories."

Speaking to The Independent in an interview, Mr. Datti said. "By Allan's efforts at rejuvenating the Juapong Textiles, about 18 youths in the Peki township alone have also been employed. We the people in the Volta Region, especially those in the middle part will remain grateful to Allan for this. Allan is indeed our Jesus, he has saved our lives by the rejuvenation of the defunct Juapong Textiles Limited."

According to the South Dayi NPP Constituency Chairman, the rejuvenation of the dead factory into the Volta Star Textiles Limited is a God-sent opportunity, since it will rejuvenate the economic lives of people in that part of the Volta Region.

Mr. Datti also took time to comment on what he terms the act of people who have taken to fabricating stories in the media as a way of discrediting Mr. Kyerematen in the eyes of NPP delegates, and said they, not Mr. Kyerematen, will rather be vanquished.

He said delegates in the Volta Region are solidly behind Mr. Kyerematen and will ensure his victory at the NPP Delegates Congress and in the 2008 general elections,

"The stories against Mr. Kyerematen rather make people in the Volta Region like him the more," said Mr. Datti, who explained that their support for him is based on the fact that he is non tribalist and stands for all.

The Special Assistant to Mr. Kyerematen, John Kumah, also told The Independent that Mr. Kyerematen believes in the philosophy of "less talk much action."

He said, so far Mr. Kyerematen has exhibited visionary leadership and competence by setting into operation the Juapong Textiles and Pwalugu Tomato Factory, which were closed down for divestiture.

He said, for his competence, President Kufuor found it prudent to add PSI to Mr. Kyerematen's ministerial portfolio, adding that with time, Mr. Kyerematen will rejuvenate all the PSI’s that are not functioning as expected.

Even before he will win his party's slot to contest the 2008 Presidential Election, the Minister for Trade, Industry, Private Sector Development and President's Special Initiative (PSI), and a New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential aspirant, Alan Kyerematen, is being hailed by some individuals 'as a "Jesus."
