The 22-year-old main suspect involved in the triple stabbing of UK-based Ghanaians in Manchester has been placed under the detention of mental health professionals.

According to the latest police update, the suspect was acquainted with the three individuals who were stabbed, which resulted in the unfortunate death of 43-year-old Alberta Obinim.

The Greater Manchester police further disclosed that investigations are still ongoing to determine the motive behind the stabbings while appealing to the public for any information that could help solve the case.

Detective Chief Inspector Charlotte Whalley, of the major incident team, said: “Our thoughts remain with those affected by this tragic incident.

“We have stepped up our patrols of the local area, to provide reassurance to people that our investigation is continuing at a pace, and that we are there to listen to concerns and answer questions.

“We continue to appeal for any information; we advise anyone who witnessed this incident to please come forward, if they haven’t already done so.

“We are also interested in speaking to anyone who was in the surrounding area near to Barnard Road at around 11pm that night.

“If you have any dash cam, doorbell, or mobile phone footage, this could help us in piecing together what happened,” a report by UK news site shropshirestar.com said.

The stabbing incident, which occurred on Sunday, August 18, 2024, also resulted in the hospitalisation of Alberta Obinim’s husband, 64-year-old Elder Joshua Obinim, and their 17-year-old daughter.

Both are in critical condition.
