The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has said all arrangements for its demonstration on Wednesday April 5, have been finalised to ensure a peaceful protest.

The demonstration, to take place in the Ashanti regional capital, Kumasi, is to press home demands for a credible and reliable voters' register.

The demonstration, dubbed ‘Baamu Yadda’ is being put together by the Ashanti regional branch of the NPP, in collaboration with pressure groups Let My Vote Count Alliance (LMVCA), Movement for Change (MFC), Alliance for Accountable Governance (AFAG), and other opposition political parties.

Alhaji Alidu Seidu, NPP’s parliamentary candidate for Asawase, speaking to Class News, said all was set for them to hit the streets.

“This is not the first time we are embarking on a demonstration of this nature,” he stated.

“You remember we did the ‘Yabr? demo’, ‘Ya Y? D?n?’ and all that? And at all times, the route we are taking now is the same route we have consistently adopted and decided with the police together. So, it is just a normal thing we have done before, and we will continue to do.

“As I talk to you, there is no problem. It is left with our finishing touches and on the 5th [of April] Insha Allah, we will get onto the streets and demonstrate accordingly. So, we have no problem at all as at now.”
