All set for quarterfinals of national energy quiz

The stage is set for the quarterfinal contests of the 2019/2020 edition of the Nana Sir Ofori-Atta I National Energy Quiz.

The quarterfinals which will take place on Wednesday, January 22 and Thursday, January 23, 2020 will come off at the assembly hall of the Oyoko Methodist Senior High School.

18 Senior High Schools will compete in 6 contests to pick up a slot at the next stage of the competition.

In each of the 6 contests, three schools will compete in keeping their hopes of winning the competition alive.

The nine winners of the quarterfinal contests will proceed to the semi-final stage of the competition to battle it out for a slot at the grande final.

The contest begins on Wednesday with a keen contest with Pope John SHS locking horns with Aburi SHTS and Yilo Krobo SHS while Saviour SHS, Oda SHS and Asamankese SHS battle it out in the second contest of the day.

St. Peters SHS, Nkawkaw SHS and Ofori Panyin SHS settle scores in the last contest of the day and completing the quarter final pairings of the day.

The competition continues on Thursday with Nkwatia Presby SHS, St. Francis SHTS and Bepong SHS in a battle for supremacy as the first duel of the day while Osino SHTS, Larteh SHS and Oyoko Methodist SHS battle it out in the second competition of the day.

The last semi-final match will see Adeiso Presby SHS, Anum Presby SHS and New Nsutam SHTS battling it out for the last slot.

The Nana Sir Ofori-Atta I National Energy Quiz is sponsored by the Ghana Oil Company Limited, Ghana Grid Company Limited, The Energy Commission, Ghana Maritime Authority, Ghana National Gas Company Limited and the Petroleum Commission.

The annual competition which is run under the auspices of the Nananom of the Eastern Regional House of Chiefs, is jointly organized by Eastern Star Awards Co. Limited in partnership with the Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools (CHASS) and is coordinated by the Ghana Education Service and the Ministry of Energy.
