Mr Samuel Akuamoah, Director of Programmes of the National Commission on Civic Education (NCCE), has called for all to join in the fight against the illicit drugs trade.
He said it was important for every Ghanaian to share in the responsibility of helping to free the country of drugs.
Mr Akuamoah said this when speaking at a workshop held to highlight the harmful effects of drugs usage by the Commission at Akyawkrom in the Ejisu-Juaben Municipality,
It formed part of the deliberate efforts aimed at helping to bring down the production, trafficking, use and the abuse of hard drugs among the youth in the area.
The week-long programme dubbed “Own your future” took the participants not only through the legal framework on drugs but exposed them to counseling skills to enable them to help their peers out of the drugs menace.
Mr Akuamoah said the drugs trade was a threat to national security and for that matter nobody could afford to remain passive and unconcerned.
The Commission, he said, was stepping up its education campaign to give more protection to the youth.
