Members of the National Association of Hygiene Students are expected to embark on a peaceful demonstration today, 28 November 2017 in protest against government’s refusal to restore their training allowance.

The students are accusing the Nana Akufo-Addo-led government of sidelining them as far as the restoration of allowances of other professions such as nurses, midwives and allied health trainees are concerned, vis-à-vis the governing New Patriotic Party’s 2016 election campaign.

The group, in an earlier statement, indicated that several attempts by student leadership from the Ho, Tamale and Accra campuses to engage the sector ministry as well as the presidency on the matter, have yielded no result.

The students said they will follow the demonstration up with a sit-down strike if the government fails to resolve the issue.
