Alliance Motors, dealers in Range Rover in Ghana on Thursday revealed its latest model of all new RANGE ROVER to its customers.
The event, which was held in Accra on Thursday attracted potential customers and officials of the automobile company.
In an address, UK Minister for Africa, Mr. Mark Simmons, said the new Range Rover makes yet another strong statement of the company’s leadership in the luxury car segment with an extensive range of changes in design and technology.
Without doubt, the New Generation Range Rover is the most intelligent and most exhilarating Range Rover ever, in South Africa it made 14% growth which is significant and we know it is going to be considered seriously in Ghana,” he said.
Mr. Simmons stated that the Range Rover has always come to mind when the term ‘luxury SUV’ is used in the motor industry. This, he said, is the world’s finest luxury SUV has undergone yet another reinvention creating the fourth generation Range Rover.
In a presentation, the General Manager for Land Rover Experience of the company, Mr. Sean Renton, explained that the latest generation of Range Rover has a wide array of subtle and deliberate changes to help keep the car ahead of its competitors.
He added that the greatest new engineering feat is the world’s first lightweight all-aluminum monocoque body structure in an SUV. The new body is 39 per cent lighter than its predecessor, enabling a weight saving of up to 420kg. Another great addition to the new Range Rover is the all-new four corner air suspension which delivers flatter and more confident cornering whilst also providing a more natural steering feel.
"Designing the next generation Range Rover, following over forty years of success, came with a huge responsibility to protect the DNA of such an icon," he added.
"Our design team worked incredibly hard to capture the elegant proportions and pure surfaces which have been a feature of the best Range Rover designs," Mr Renton said.
On Road
The new Range Rover (fuel efficient) diesel engine comes with two engine options, each versions of the same 5.0 liter V8 engine.
Impressive sound isolation inside the Range Rover means users will not hear the engine, but it offers excellent passing power with a smooth power curve. The many systems that make up Active Dynamics mean that the Range Rover handles like a sport car.
The Range Rover of course has an adaptive air suspension system with adjustable ride height that lowers the vehicle as much as possible when rolling down the highway. This system is used extensively when going off-road.
Off Road
When spending time off-road, the coolest part of the Fourth Generation Range Rover is the new Terrain Response 2 Auto system. Think “smart automatic transmission for terrain types.” Of course you can also manually select different terrains which dramatically change the driving dynamics of the system. This is important because driving over mud has different needs than over rocks.
It wouldn’t be a modern Range Rover without their now iconic descent control system that makes going down hills very convenient. Rather than having to play foosie with the brake going down a hill, the system automatically ensures a comfortable speed when going down, especially over rough terrain.
