Dr. Ekow Spio-Garbrah, member of the NDC and former minister of trade and Industry in the erstwhile NDC government has appealed to Ghanaians particularly delegates of the NDC to disregard any information, rumours making rounds that he has rescinded his decision of contesting for the flagbearership race and would become a running mate for former president John Mahama.

Addressing a section of journalists in Accra, he indicated that he has never on any occasion said or made an attempt to for go the flagbearership race and become the running mate of the former president as its been carried by some media outlets and social media.

According to Dr. Ekow Spio-Garbrah, apart from his qualities of been incorruptible, the most competent and more experienced than any of his compatriots who are also seeking to lead the NDC party, the constitution of the party does not make room for flagbearer to choose a running mate before the party goes for congress to choose a flagbearer.

He added that his track record of holding various positions locally and internationally without any shred of financial malfeasance among other things for over 25 years also makes him the ideal candidate to lead the NDC party to unseat the NPP in the 2020 elections.

He further noted that aside nurturing his ambition of leading the country for several years and having served in various capacities in the NDC led administration, there are dozens of Ghanaians who believe he has all the qualities the party and the country as a whole desire and are therefore supporting him whichever way they can to enable him lead the party and eventually unseat the NPP in 2020.
