Amaakye Must Keep His Repugnant Npp Views To Himself

When an NPP activist makes an adverse comment about
President Mills, it should be taken with a pinch of salt. But when that
activist has paraded and continues to parade as a neutral person whose views
are not tainted with partisan colours, it is important to stand up to his buffoonery
lest he continues to deceive the undiscerning and the ignorant. It is in this
light that we cannot help but take issues with Kwesi Amaakye Boateng on the
views he expressed concerning President Mills yesterday on Adom FM.
This political science lecturer was recently exposed
as an ardent NPP supporter and not the neutral political commentator that he
has always hold himself to be. After being exposed, one would have thought that
he would go and re-invent himself before coming back to foul the airwaves with
his usual NPP views. Unfortunately, this has not been the case. As a result, he
continues to foul the airwaves with his mate
me hu views.
Yesterday, Kwesi Amaakye Boateng, on Adom FM news, called
on President Mills to resign in order to uphold the integrity of the Office of
the Presidency in the wake of the GH¢51 million judgment debt brouhaha.
The KNUST Lecturer stated that the NDC
should take steps to replace President Mills to save the party ahead of the
December polls.
Since the reasons he gave are so
mundane, there is no use even re-stating them here. But, we need to ask where
Mr. Kwesi Amaakye was when the then President Kufuor’s own party Chairman,
Harona Esseku, revealed that he has been collecting kickbacks at the Castle?
Again, where was Mr. Amaakye when it
emerged that President Kufuor has fathered a son with a foreigner, Madam Gizelle
Yagzi? The seriousness of Kufuor’s indiscretion here is not the adulterous act
per se but that it was with a foreign woman, who, for all we know, was working as
a spy for another country; in the throes of sexual ecstasy, Kufuor could have
blurted out matters of serious national security to her.
Ghanaians have not forgotten that it was
from the Castle under Kufuor that Ga lands were looted with calls to party
members, including NPP flagbearer, Nana Akufo-Addo, to come make their pick.
Where was Amakye when all these were happening? Living on Mars?
Be that as it may, there is no proof
anywhere that President Mills is involved in the CAN 2008 judgement debt matter.
What is more, he has shown the will to inflict pain on his government and party
to get to the bottom of the matter, an action Kufuor said he will never resort
to, to protect his government. Yes, Kufuor did imply that he was ready to
maintain thieves, murderers, drug barons and nation wreckers in his government
just to keep it intact. Is that the kind of government Kwesi Amaakye Boateng
wants President Mills to keep in place?
The exercise President Mills has
embarked on to get to the bottom of the judgement debt matter is like a person
extracting a bad tooth; though it is a painful exercise, it is the only way to
keep the rest of the body healthy. And, it takes a leader with character and
strong will to take his own government and party through this exercise. Our
only plea with the President is for him to be on the alert because it seems some
want to use his genuine at getting to the bottom of the matter to settle
personal scores with Mr. Woyome and others.
So, let Mr. Kwesi Amaakye Boateng keep his NPP views to himself. No one
is interested in it. The NDC will not commit political suicide by even contemplate
changing President Mills as its flag-bearer for the 2012 elections. Who will
replace him? A junkie who wakes up in the morning high on marijuana with (the
marijuana) smoke hanging over him like a cloud?
