Global Organisation for Humanitarian Work Psychology (GOHWP) is a coalition of individuals from low- to high-income countries devoted to the field of humanitarian work psychology. It has an explicit goals, follows specific set of values, and work together to promote and engage in humanitarian activities through the practice and study of organizational psychology. Because of these goals and values, GOHWP is a hybrid organization that mixes aspects of a professional association with a non-profit organization devoted to humanitarian work and international development, and the humanitarian treatment of all people in their place(s) of work, whether in low-, middle-, or high-income settings.
GOHWP is a goal and value-driven organisation led by an Executive Board elected by members. Elections were held recently to elect new Executive Board members. The Executive Board consist of a Chair, Vice Chair, six Members, and a Student Representative. Mr. Emmanuel Ashitey Armah the only candidate from Ghana emerged as the Student Representative elect.
Emmanuel Amarh Ashitey was born in Accra, Ghana on 26 October 1991. He is currently a final year Bachelor of Arts in Psychology student at University of Ghana. Due to his commitment and dedication to leadership, He was recently awarded the Pearl awards from Emerging African Leaders Academy, He was part of the only five people who were awarded in the continent by Emerging African Leaders Academy during their 8th season conference held in Ghana. He was elected last year to be the Student Representative on the Ghana Psychological Board Council.
According to Emmanuel Ashitey Armah, he is very humbled for the trust and want to show appreciation to all members of GOHWP who believed in his credentials and endorsed him to represent students on the Executive Board. He promised that, he will pullout all his leadership skills and experiences to support the board and achieve the organisation's goals. He further promised to make Global Organization for Humanitarian Work Psychology (GOHWP) very popular here in Ghana so as to extend the good things the organisation does to develop the country. He finally said, he welcome all support from individuals and organizations who believe in humanitarian services.
Membership of GOHWP includes practitioners, researchers, and students in the field of organizational psychology alongside professionals from other disciplines that utilize the principles, practices, and findings from organizational psychology to enhance human welfare. GOHWP has history in the diverse and varied efforts of organisational psychologists and others who have worked to use the discipline to understand and support deliberate and organised efforts to enhance human welfare.
