The Member of Parliament (MP) for Dormaa East, Paul Twum-Barimah, has urged North Tongu MP Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa to apologize to former Ministers of Finance and Health over allegations related to a $34 million procurement deal for ambulance spare parts.

Ablakwa had accused former Finance minister, Ken Ofori-Atta and former Health minister Kwaku Agyeman-Manu of collusion with a private company to defraud the state.

“If I calculate all the monies that my brother put out there, it sums up to $120 million, of which the minister approved. Indeed, in his submission, he said he approved $34 million on February 9, 2024, the minister approved only 10 million on February 9, and this is it to the Controller,” citinewsroom.com quoted him to have said during a press briefing.

He continued, "It's honourable to just call, go back, recall those documents, and apologize to Hon. Agyeman Manu and Hon. Ken Ofori-Atta, knowing very well that I may have thought I got the dates right, but the documentation was wrong.

"Probably, I will go back and get it right, and I don't think it will hurt him."

Ablakwa in a Facebook post on Monday, July 22, announced his intention to petition the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) to investigate an alleged $34.9 million (GH₵538 million) procurement deal for ambulance spare parts.

He accused the former finance minister of hastily approving the deal just five days before leaving office.

Ablakwa further pointed out that the beneficiary company, Service Ghana Auto Group Limited, was incorporated on April 24, 2020, which raises questions about its capability to service ambulances that had been commissioned in 2019.
