Klefe (VR), Jan. 30, GNA - The American Biographical Institute has nominated Very Reverend Dr Livingstone Buama, immediate past Moderator of E.P. Church, Ghana as recipient of "The World Medal of Freedom" this year.
"I have personally selected the worthiest candidates for this honour," Janet M. Evans, Director, Board of International Research of the Institute wrote in a notice of nomination made available to Ghana News Agency at Klefe.
Very Reverend Dr Buama would be one of 50 personalities of distinction worldwide to receive the award this year. "Obviously this places your selection in extremely high regard," it said.
The "World Medal of Freedom" goes to "men and women whose daily lives remind us that good deeds prevail; that we can indeed strive for freedom", "a short-list selection of men and women internationally, who act as the very fibre of society by binding us together in progression and dedication," the Institute said. "I want you to be a figurehead of peace, freedom and hope for the world as a whole. Please be so by accepting the World Medal of Freedom-a distinction you truly deserve," Janet M. Evans said in the notice of nomination.
In an interview at Klefe his hometown, Very Reverend Dr Buama, Chairman of Alavanyo-Nkonya Peace Mediation Committee said he felt humbled by the honour. He said people should be willing to learn and wait their turn to ascend to positions of leadership which required humility and selflessness.
Regarding his future plans, Rev. Buama said he was now organizing himself even though he had several offers both at home and abroad especially in the academia. He hinted that he intended putting his thoughts and ideas into writing when he finally settled down. Very Reverend Dr Buama showed the GNA round his study where he has began stocking several books. He formally retired as Moderator of General Assembly of E.P. Church, Ghana early January this year, after eight-year term.
