American NGO donates books to Asanteman fund.

Books for Africa, a book donating non-governmental organisation (NGO) based in Minneapolis Minnesota in the United State of America (USA) has donated 300 cartons of assorted books worth 20,000 dollars as it contribution to the Asanteman Educational Fund.

Mr Robert Amoako, Executive Director of the Ghana Book Trust, which represented the donors, presented the books to Otumfuo Osei Tutu 11, Asantehene at his Manhyia palace in Kumasi.

He said 7,500 dollars of the total cost went for shipment whilst the Ghana Book Trust also spent 1.8 million cedis to cart the books to Kumasi.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu expressed his gratitude to Mr Lane Lyres, Director of the Books for Africa, who visited his palace last year and got to know of the Asanteman Fund.
