Central Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Bernard Allotey Jacobs has refuted claims that Martin Amidu is an arrogant person.
According to Allotey Jacobs, he has "never seen Martin as an arrogant person, never".
He explained to host Kwami Sefa Kayi that Mr. Amidu only displayed his true character traits during his vetting before the Parliamentary Appointments Committee on Tuesday, February 13, 2018.
He noted on Kokrokoo on Peace FM that Mr. Amidu is one person who likes challenges and so will delightfully take up the take-up gauntlet to rid the country of corruption.
“I’ve never seen Martin as an arrogant person, never. And never will I say that Martin is arrogant. Martin displayed his true character yesterday. That is Martin for you…Martin is somebody who likes challenges. That is him. If you challenge him, he will come for it”.
Allotey Jacobs sought to clarify reasons why some people, particularly within the NDC, think Mr. Amidu is arrogant explaining that he (Mr. Amidu) is embittered towards the party due to certain experiences.
To him, the NDC should have handled him in a better way when they found out about his bitterness and believed the issue could have been ironed out amicably.
“The party should have sat down with Martin to find out the problem. The party should have sat him down. I believe that the party has failed in that angle for being unable to call Martin up and broach the subject. Yes, you cannot manage Martin. Martin is unmanageable. That's his beliefs, his principles; he will never compromise principles. He says it as it is. Sometimes, you might think he is cheeky…but you see there are characters like that from the way they were brought up. So, sometimes, we need to infuse ourselves into their world,” Allotey Jacobs stated.
