Deputy National Security Coordinator in charge of airports, Hopeson Yaovi Adorye has challenged claims by members of the largest opposition party that government has caged the Special Prosecutor, Martin Amidu from performing his duties.

“Government under President Akufo-Addo is still quiet because office of the Prosecutor cannot prosecute persons based on just propaganda or agitations leveled against them. They need detailed evidence to go to court,” he asserted.

He said processes of prosecution are not as we speak in public, because the office of the Special Prosecutor needs a lot of evidence to prosecute a person, therefore, it is gathering its facts to prosecute whoever is to face the laws of the land.

Using himself as an example, he explained how he felt sad because he could not produce any video or picture evidence to buttress his case against a corrupt practice even though he explained the issue at hand into details to the Chief of Staff.

In an interview on UTV’s ‘Adekye Nsroma’ panel discussion segment, Hopeson Adorye disclosed Martin Amidu’s job is not a one day task.

“Martin Amidu’s job needs a lot of research and time to get every detail of a prosecution right . . .“ he explained.
