Amissah-Arthur blames wife at vetting

To the amazement of committee members, Vice Presidential nominee, Mr. Kwesi Amissah-Arthur accused his wife of being responsible of some identified errors in his Curriculum Vitae (CV).

The attention of Amissah-Arthur was drawn by Member of Parliament for Techiman Constituency, Professor Christopher Ameyaw Akumfi, to some spelling mistakes in his personal profile submitted to members of the committee.

Mr. Amissah-Arthur on Monday appeared before the Vetting Committee of Parliament to go through the vetting process in his bid to become Ghana’s Vice President.

“Mr. Chairman, it was my wife who did the typing of the CV and if there are some errors in there, then I guess it must be attributed to my wife because she did it,” the Governor of the Bank of Ghana asserted.

His answer to the question, however, caused laughter among committee members, which disrupted proceedings close to a minute.

But Mr. Amissah-Arthur in a facing saving mechanism later apologized for accusing his wife for the errors, saying “she is a wonderful wife”.

“Indeed my wife attended Mfantsiman Secondary School so what I said does not mean she was not trained properly in school just because the CV was hurriedly typed and arranged.

… anyway, I thank the school for giving me such a wonderful wife who has been so much helpful in my entire career,”. Reports say the committee is likely to unanimously approve his candidature by the close of Tuesday.**
