Anaji Electoral Area to benefit from pilot infrastructure project

Takoradi Dec.14, GNA- The Anaji Electoral Area, in the Shama-Ahanta East Metropolis in the Western Region, is to benefit from a World Bank assisted pilot project on social infrastructure.

Mr Philip Kwesi Nkrumah, Metropolitan Chief Executive, who announced this on Tuesday at the graduation ceremony of the Takoradi Women's Training Institute in Takoradi, said plans were underway to construct a number of roads and establish a model Junior Secondary School in the Area.

Thirty-Seven (37) students who had completed three -year courses in dressmaking; catering; hairdressing, Batik Tie and Dye and Home Management as well as 15 students, who had undergone a year's training in dressmaking under the Skills Training and Employment Programme (STEP), were presented with certificates.

Mrs Georgina Baaba Otoo, the Headmistress, said the Institute had trained 3,000 students since its establishment in 1973, while 45 unemployed youth have benefited from the STEP programme. She said lack of transportation, academic and accommodation facilities were some of the handicaps facing the Institute.
