- He's no longer responsible for Aviation
Past and present student leaders, as well as student activists of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) have described as unfounded and baseless, the allegation that the minister of road transport, Dr. Richared Anane, was the principal architect in the deal between government and the Ghana International Airways (CIA), for the latter to inherit the administrative management of the Ghana Airways Ltd.Addressing a news briefing in Kumasi last weekend, the spokesperson, Stephen Amoah for students drawn from various tertiary institutions, across the country, denied that Dr. Anane actively worked and poked his nose on issues relating to the take over processes of Ghanair since January 2005.
He stated emphatically that the Aviation portfolio was withdrawn from the Road Transport Ministry to link with the Office of Chief of Staff, and Minister for Presidential Affairs, at the Castle, when President Kufuor announced names of new ministers for various ministries.
The student activists of NPP wondered why angry staff of the Obsolete Ghana Airways Ltd, would storm the Independence Square in Accra during the May Day Parade, and call for the resignation of the minister, as well as the abrogation of the Ghanair take-over deal.
The student leader?s spokesperson, Amoah humbly appealed to His Excellency, President Kufuor not to take any action against the minister, based on the series of those unfounded allegations levelled against him.
