Dozens of Odorgonno Senior High School students have taken to the Awoshie-Anyaa highway, which passes in front of their school's entrance, blocking traffic.

According to reports, the protest, undertaken by the students on Monday, February 24, 2025, was in demand of immediate repairs to some malfunctioning traffic lights and streetlights along the stretch.

The students say their action has been necessitated by concerns for their safety, as a staff member has already lost their life due to the malfunctioning lights.

The protest led to a brief halt in traffic movement on the stretch as the students blocked cars from moving.

Videos sighted by GhanaWeb show some of the students shouting their demands and registering their displeasure over the situation.

The students' protest comes on the heels of a recent hit-and-run incident in which a security guard of the school was killed in a fatal crash.
