Anita de Souza Dares JJ

WOMEN’S ORGANIZER of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Anita de Souza has dared the party’s founder and former president, Jerry John Rawlings to disassociate himself from his wife’s new party, the National Democratic Party (NDP).

She said since news about the new party political broke, the former president who is also Chairman of the NDC Council of Elders, had maintained a stony silence.

Madam de Souza threw the challenge Saturday at Akyem New Tafo in the Abuakwa North constituency when the parliamentary candidate for the area and Eastern Regional Minister, Victor Smith launched his campaign.

“Currently we hear, President Rawlings is outside the country and we are waiting for him to return and when he returns, we would like to hear from him whether he has any association with the NDP or not,” she said adding that if the NDC founder declares he is with the NDP, then that will signal the beginning of a strong positive defiance against him.

“He taught us the positive defiance and we will pitch it against him if he comes to say he is with the NDP,” she said.

She however asked NDC supporters not to be shaken by the formation of the new political party from the stables of the Rawlingses but rather commit themselves to the party and throw their full weight behind President Mills.

NDC Regional Organizer, Tawiah Boateng asked supporters to prove the skeptics wrong by working hard to help the party win the December general elections.
